WILDERNESS Beaver Cub
1995- 2 berth
"Barney"

We are pleased to be able to offer this well maintained, three-owner 5.4m (17ft 6”) Beaver-Cub (one of only 7 built by us in the 1990’s ) and it comes as a complete trailboat rig with a twin-axle trailer and is unexpectedly for sale after much recent upgrade work .

The cabin, although short, has full standing throughout. Built to bespoke order for the original owner, the forward saloon area has horseshoe-shaped seating around a central table; at night, this space converts easily to either 2 generously-long single berths or, with table lowered, a
large double-across. During the day, bedding is easily stored under the bow quarter decks and there is extensive top-access general storage under the saloon seating. The 120L freshwater storage tank is located at low level at the forward end of the boat below the external gas cylinders locker .

The galley on the port side at the rear, has a cream enamel sink and drainer let in, and matching

4-burner gas hob with a hinged, toughened glass lid and a grill; underneath is a large open-
fronted storage shelf and a recent 50L 12V Dometic fridge ( with a small freezer compartment)

with a cutlery drawer above and a storage basket below.

Aft of the heating cupboard is a moderate-sized, well equipped toilet/shower compartment which
also has an up-graded shower mixer, an acrylic foldaway wash basin and a Thetford Porta-potti.
Space heating is from a quiet, thermostatically controlled, gas-fired Propex blow-air unit situated
in one of the external lockers in the stern cockpit. The heater is a current design (fitted 2016),
is room-sealed and BSS. compliant.

The engine fitted, new in September 2020, is a 15hp electric-start Mercury with power-tilt and is
of very low hours.

This engine with its tiller provides very responsive and direct steerage and gives the Beaver-
Cub a very confident feel not found in many boat designs. It holds a steady and accurate line

ahead with very little tiller movement, turns from stationary in little more than its own length and,
as with most of our Wilderness designs, steers easily in reverse. Fuel consumption on canal
navigations is extremely low.

The craft is fitted with professionally installed 240V AC electrics supplied when connected ashore : there are 4no. square pin outlet sockets There is also a 12v jack socket for laptops and phone charging.
Lighting has been upgraded throughout with LED units and the boat’s two leisure batteries are
charged by the outboard engine, and supplemented by a recent 200W solar roof panel.
A 20amp mains battery charger is fitted for use when shore-power is available.

There is extensive storage space below the external cockpit locker lids which includes ample
fuel storage and even a separate small locker for the storage of additional gas cylinders. One of
the lockers, which goes right down to the cabin sole, is deep enough to be capable of storing a
folding bike (or possibly even two). There is also extensive additional storage space under
the cockpit floor entered from within the cabin below the rear access doors.
